The Four Pillars of our work
Our vision for the future of the Network is to co-create a process for place-based climate resilience and solution building through Resilience Hubs: communities, neighborhoods and blocks throughout Northern California, that centers BIPOC people power and radical community care. Below are the four pillars that the Network will be prioritizing moving forward.
BIPoC-centered Environmental and Climate Leadership Training
Building upon 2021’s Resilience Hub Leadership Training, we will continue to exchange knowledge through experiential learning from individuals, organizations, and communities’ resilience-based programs and sites. The training will hone in on BIPOC-led initiatives that can be adapted into various landscapes in Northern California. This second round of training will focus on how a broad scope of place-based resilience building can be implemented and how we, as a network, can enhance and share resources to support each other’s initiatives.
BIPoC-centered Environmental and Climate Justice Policy and Advocacy
Providing high-level policy and advocacy training will open up pathways for multi-agency participation in important decision-making spaces that we do not always have access to. Being able to have a seat at the table in government and policy-making spaces will allow for a shift of power and large-scale decisions to be informed by those who have first-hand experience in building resilience.
House-less Resilience Initiative
Our houseless neighbors are and have been at the forefront of building, living and breathing resilience. It is only right that we place their leadership at the forefront of resilience planning and development and co-build alongside each other as we are stronger together.
Collaborative Grant Making for BIPoC Resilience Hubs
Developing a collaborative grant-making model will allow for a bottom-up method of the collective fund and resource sharing that is designed and run by the people, for the people. The model will raise, steward, and distribute funding to individuals and organizations who are designing and implementing resilience-based programs and spaces.
